A Good Week for Running

I had a really good running week this week, thanks to the gorgeous weather Chicago had. I’m all caught up with my runs and completed week 6 of the C25K program this week. Not only that, but I dropped some weight too! Here’s a little something that motivated me this week:

Motivation 04.20.15

I mostly ran near my house this week, but I’m sad to say that I’m not really getting any faster. I’m feeling better on each run, which is also important, I just wish my time was a little faster. I am finishing all my C25K runs the way I’m supposed to, but am only averaging a 13:40 min/mile which I know is sooooooo slow. I’m trying not to get hung up on that, but I know that eventually I’m going to have to push myself a little harder. Right now I’m just trying to keep running without stopping.

My-Running-Trail

This is the trail I see nearly every time I run.

I didn’t do any other workouts this week besides running, and I know I need to change that. I’m just so tired on my off days and spend my time in front of the TV instead. **Slaps hand** I know, very bad. But I am working on an outdoor project with my husband that’s pretty physical. We’re painting the deck!

Deck-Work

My husband tried staining it last year and it was a disaster. The stain wasn’t sticking to the wood, it came out all different colors, and it just didn’t look good…at all! So now, we’ve decided to paint it to match the house. I can’t wait till it’s all done! This week we prepped the wood by removing as much of the stain as we could with stain remover and a pressure washer and we sanded the deck – by hand! I should mention that our deck is a bi-level deck that’s over 600 square feet – so sanding it was a total workout! It’s supposed to rain over the next few days so hopefully we can start painting it soon. Here’s a sneak peek at the rail color. The floor will be a different color.

I also got new running shoes this week – got a proper fitting and everything! I’ll share a full post on that soon.

As for weight loss, I lost 1.1 pounds this week, bringing my grand total so far to just shy of 5 pounds! 5 pounds in 6 weeks. Not as much as I wanted, but I’ll take it! Hey – maybe I shouldn’t have splurged on pizza and wings yesterday (and today for lunch). Wait – and I also hung out with a friend on Friday and had a few drinks plus late-night bar food. Whoops.

My 5K is in 2 WEEKS! I can’t wait!
